Named for the Hamilton County Juvenile Court magistrate who helped to establish ProKids in 1981, this award recognizes the outstanding advocacy of individual ProKidsCASA Volunteers. But this year, ProKids was faced with a daunting challenge: to honor the largest group ever.
As the pandemic continued on its destructive path, upending the child protection system and impacting personal lives, ProKids CASA Volunteers faced the challenges. As health restrictions limited access to traditional supports and services, their work of advocating directly for abused and neglected children had never been more essential or complex. ProKids CASA Volunteers made certain that our children’s emotional, medical and educational needs were met. They remained flexible, surpassing expectations to ensure our kids were safe, stable, and headed towards their forever families. Through our CASA Volunteers’ advocacy, Carl got a backpack filled with school supplies; Kate got glasses; Liv got her cavity filled; and Izaak’s long-awaited forever home was finalized in a Zoom adoption. Their commitment to our kids, especially in this complicated time, has made it clear that ProKids children will always have a voice – no matter what. ProKids believes every one of these advocates is deserving, so to honor this exceptional advocacy, we are proud to present this annual award to every ProKids CASA Volunteer!
